Her Story
Preserved by mercy. Carried by grace. Called for a purpose.

From Jamaica
Mercy Amen was born in St. Margaret’s Bay, Portland, Jamaica. Orphaned very young, her earliest years were marked by vulnerability and circumstances that could easily have determined the course of her life.
But Mercy does not tell her story simply as one of hardship. Looking back, she sees something greater running through it—the preserving hand of God.
When Mercy Became More Than a Name
There were moments in Mercy’s life when danger seemed almost certain and circumstances appeared beyond her ability to navigate.
Yet again and again, doors opened, circumstances shifted and a way appeared where she could not have made one for herself.
For Mercy, those moments form a pattern. She believes the Lord fought for her, preserved her and carried her through situations she could not have survived or navigated by her own strength.

“Her story is not simply that she survived. Her testimony is that God was merciful.”
A Life That Crossed Borders
What began on the northeastern coast of Jamaica would eventually become a life spanning nations and cultures.
Mercy’s journey took her from Jamaica to the United States and later into extended periods of life, ministry and service in countries across Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
Each place added another dimension to how she understood people, culture, faith and the shared experiences that connect humanity.

Service in Different Forms
Education and service became significant parts of Mercy’s journey. She trained as a teacher and taught in Jamaica and the United States.
She later served honorably in the United States Army. As an honorable U.S. Army veteran, she carries this chapter of discipline, service and experience as part of her story.
Her academic journey continued across the fields of literature, education and theology.

God Through the Journey
Through changing countries, careers, relationships, seasons of uncertainty and experiences of both joy and pain, Mercy’s faith increasingly became the lens through which she understood her life.
The God she had encountered was not distant from human vulnerability. He was present within it.

A Life Given Back
Over time, Mercy came to understand preservation not simply as something to celebrate, but as something that carried responsibility.
If God had shown mercy to her, then her life should point others toward Him.
That conviction would increasingly shape her evangelistic ministry, missionary work, music, writing, media and compassionate service.
The Name
Mercy is more than an artist or ministry name. It expresses the testimony at the center of her life. Mercy bears witness to the character of the God who preserved her.
Amen is an affirmation—so be it—a life responding in agreement to what God has done and to what He continues to call her to do.
Mercy Amen
Still Becoming
Mercy’s story is not presented as a finished story.
There are still songs to sing, words to write, places to go, people to serve and a gospel to proclaim.
The same mercy she recognizes behind her yesterday is the mercy with which she walks into tomorrow.

Her life could have taken many different paths.
Mercy believes God preserved this one.And now she desires to use it to point others toward Jesus Christ.
